FESTIVAL 2012

From the 21st May York Theatre Royal will become the hub of an exciting three week festival run entirely by a team of enthusiastic under 26 year olds. Three years in, TakeOver has become a regular fixture in the Theatre’s calendar, this year we will present an exciting line-up of theatre, comedy, dance and music for all York Theatre audiences.

The Takeover Board is made up of seventeen volunteers between the ages of 11 and 26 who meet regularly to oversee the planning of the TakeOver festival. They have created this mission statement:

“TakeOver Festival is organised by young people for the whole community to enjoy and take part in. The Festival will showcase a range of theatre talent for a diverse audience”

Our TakeOver programme is aimed at audiences of all ages, and we pride ourselves on offering the sort of theatrical diversity that can be summed up in one simple motto: something for everyone.
